Android TV user interface is grainy

The Android TV interface looks grainy!! I own a Nexus Player (Full HD only signal unfortunately) with android TV 7.0 and 8.0 and the user interface is much cleaner with both OSs. What is the resolution of the Bravia Android TV user interface???

The UI is always rendered at 1080p. On 4K TVs it simply gets upscaled to 2160p. Just like the 1080p input from the Nexus Player which also has to be upscaled to 2160p. The path is for sure different. I can't really say that the UI is grainy for me. But I don't have any comparision.
