Memory card is automatically unmounted

My memory card is getting removed unexpectedly,after I have updated my device Xperia C5 from Lollipop to Marshmallow. I have restarted the mobile and then while I'm listening to music or using the apps,i'm getting a notification that memory card removed unexpectedly unmount it to avoid data loss. Can anyone help me to solve this.

That seems to be a faulty SD card, reformat the SD card and report back.

I'm sorry to hear about this.

To make sure that there is nothing wrong with your phone I would recommend following recommendation by @uliwooly.

If you have another SD card or if you can borrow one from a friend, colleague or family member, you can mount that in your phone and see if you experience the same behaviour that the SD card gets removed unexpectedly.

Same sd card works well with other device phone keeps unmounting it automatically

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Are you doing anything specific in the phone when this happens? For example, using apps that are transferred to your SD card or listening to music that is on the SD card?

If you haven't formatted the card, I would recommend starting with that or if you have another SD card that you can mount in the phone and see if you experience the same behaviour, that the SD card gets unmounted.

No matter whatever i am doing sd card automatically gets unmounted. I have tried to formatt sd card after formatting it stays good for a day and again same problem. Cintacted service center and they say have no idea and asked me to reset my phone. Crazy people.

Same sd card on sam phone with 5.1 works fine but no sd card stays stable with the phone. Tried new sd card with different storage size still same issue gets unmounted.

Wish would have not upgraded the os as phone is now only good for browsing onkine and making calls no wonder people were saying battery life is good after update. People cant listen to music or do anything with external memory then battery will ne saved.

Is this something that you started to experience directly after the update to Marshmallow, or was it working correctly for a while?

Can you try rebooting your phone in safe mode and see if your SD card gets unmounted when third party applications aren't loaded?

Let me know if there is any change in safe mode.

I am also facing same problem, same card works on other mobile properly but in Sony c5 its always giving error of unmounting SD card.

I'm sorry to hear that you experience the same troubles.

Have you had the time to try and reboot your phone in safe mode and checked if you experience the same behaviour?

I am also facing the same problem, same card works correctly in another phone, but Sony always gives his C5 error remove the SD card. Before the latest update SD card work properly.

Hello everyone!

Sorry to hear that all of you are experiencing the same behaviour.

If there is no change in safe mode, and you have tried with a different SD card, I would recommend performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

This will delete all data stored on the internal storage of your phone and reinstall the latest available software for your phones, so creating a backup using the Xperia Companion program before starting with the repair is advised.

In this case I'm afraid that I can only refer you to having your phone sent in to an authorized service centre so it can be examined by a trained technician.

Your Local support team will gladly arrange a repair for you and they will answer all the questions that you may have regarding service routines, service times, consumer laws and so forth!

There is nothing wrong with my sd card. I did an update for android and now my sd card is getting unmounted without me doing anything. This is the reason why I hate doing updates. It never goes well.
