Hi @mandik_9, sorry to hear about this.

What behaviour are you experiencing with the application after updating your device? If you for example, can't start the application, try and reset the application data.

To do that, go to Settings > Apps > Messaging > Storage > Clear data > OK. This will not delete any messages that you have in the device, it will only reset the application data.

Hi I have the same problem.. After the last update, when trying to send sms, messaging app says 'could not send', And 'unfortunately, messaging has stopped ' when trying to send mms.

I have tried both the options suggested by you,but did not work. I had to go for the option of Factory data reset, now it is working for last 7 days. I think the messaging app is not supporting the updates given by the Sony,it is to be checked .

Hi @Gabby1, sorry to hear about this.

Have you tried clearing data for the application? If you haven't done that, I recommend doing so to start with.

@mandik_9, I'm glad to hear that you were able to solve it, however having to reset your device back to factory settings is not a very fun task.

Please let me know if you experience the behaviour again!

Hi @Erizlovect, sorry to hear about this.

Do I understand correctly that you still receive this error message even after clearing data for the Messaging application? If that is the case, try and restart your device in safe mode and see if you experience the same behaviour when starting the Messaging application, that way we can see if a downloaded application is the cause of this.
