I suggest that you use the SD card for music (media), if you have music on your computer then just connect the phone to the computer and install Xperia Companion

There is a couple of different ways to play music in your device. If you have locally stored music files on a computer you can transfer them to the device using Xperia Companion as @uliwooly mentioned and you can read more about this on the link below.

A very common way to listen to music is through streaming services that you can either use for free with some limitations or pay a set amount per month to get access to all the music that they offer and even save it offline on your device, so you can listen to it while not being connected to the Internet.
