Setting ringing tone on messaging

Hi! My phone vibrates when I get a message but I set a ringtone when I first got it, Mar 2017 and that ringtone does not now ring when getting messages.

I did check the settings in messaging to set a tone but could not set it.

Could anyone give me a hand please.

Hi! I noticed on your reply to my first post, a screen shot with messaging notification and on this I saw 'behavioural' option. On my 3 screen shots I did not have this.

My ringing of messaging app is still not working.. But I only get 2 vibrations with a pop up box also working. Please someone help??

Really am getting fed up with the sound not working. Please help somebody. Many thanks

hello can you try to check on your sound settings

settings>sound>

1. check the volume

2.try changing the phone ringtone, notification sound

3. check again while the phone is in safe mode

Hi! I tried what you suggested in settings->sounds.

I changed the ringtone and also the notification sound to something else. My daughter texted me and the result.:no message ring, no vibration and no pop up box.

Can anyone else help me? Really getting fed up with the messaging not working properly.

You may try something else.

Goto settings-apps and notifications-find the messaging app-tap on storage-clear cache & data.

It's kind of reset of the app.

Let us know if that gives you a fresh start.

Hi! I tried your changes and my wife texted 2x and.... I got the message, got a vibration and the sound came .. Not once but twice..!
