topic Text messages notification sound problem in X Series

A new problem came up with my Xperia x performance.
Using the default texting app I obviously send and receive messages. I selected no sound for new messages, no vibrations. I start a conversation with John, for instance. While I write my message , John texts me also. His message will bypass my selected mute notification and the phone will ring!! This happens EVERY TIME, not only with John. On the other hand, if left alone, the phone will act normally and will not notify me on incoming messages.
Long story short, it cannot be muted when I receive messages and the conversation window is opened. Factory reset, software repair by Sony companion, been there, done that.
Any thoughts on the matter? Aside from "change the default text app"
Nougat 7.0, built number 39.2.A.0.374

Hi @Englishmanx,

I'm sorry to hear about that.

I tried to replicate this on an Xperia X Performance with the latest available software installed (.417) and I was not able to do so.

When I was in the start of the Messaging application and in the same conversation that I received the messages in, there was no notifications or vibration being played when these were turned off in the settings menu of the application.

So I would recommend that you wait for the new update and install it as soon as you get a notification about it, until then you will have to use a third party application, such as Google messenger.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

You're welcome!

If you don't want to wait for the update you can always download a third party application and use that application while waiting for the notification that tells you that you have a new update to install to arrive!

Let me know how it works in the new update once you have received it!
