Indeed, come on Sony sort this out - it's not hard. Sony have a habit of taking random backward steps with things like this.

Hi - my x compact just received the nougatupdate along with the February security patch release.

However I noticed that prior to nougat we just had a nice one click feature to enable or disable mobile data from the notifications area. This has now gone in the wrong direction with Nougat , where clicking the mobile data icon takes us to an additional screen with a slide bullet to enable / disable data.

Is there anyway we can request Sony to get the feature back to enable or disable mobile data with one click only from the notifications area directly?

Please advise

unfortunately for the mean time we have no workaround this "problem" let's hope they do something for the next update

try sending your feedback to sony here: http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

Yep! This issue and the ridiculous extra wait for image enhancement (which reaches abt 10 whole seconds in the album app) have totally made Nougat a big mistake!
