Cursor randomly popping up

Has anyone experienced an issue with their device where a mouse cursor blinks on the screen for <1 second? It happens randomly, sometimes multiple times within 30 seconds, sometimes every few hours. I have never connected a bluetooth or wired mouse, so I don't know what could possibly be causing it. It has persisted factory resets, and happens even when I'm running completely stock software (no installed apps).

@graham5571 I knew I wasn't crazy!!! A small black cursor from time to time pop up!!! I tried to record it but it can't be screen grabbed!! So it's something related to the video driver or the touchscreen's!!!

Sadly I have no idea why this happens.

Thank you for confirming that I'm not imagining it!! After searching around on reddit, somebody chimed in this:

"I don't own the x compact yet (I'll get it tomorrow!), but this problem seems to me that it is directly connected with the nougat (7.0) update on some devices.
My speculation is based on the Nvidia Shield K1 I own which when it got the 7.0 update, occasionally when the keyboard came up on a text field, a black mouse cursor flashed for a fraction of a second on the center of the display.
Nvidia was quick to release an update where on the "what's new" area they stated specifically that they fixed the blinking cursor bug, so I'm pretty certain that only Sony can fix it through an update."

So hopefully Sony has taken note of the issue and can patch it in a monthly update. Fingers crossed. Until then, I guess I'm gonna just be mildly annoyed.

@graham5571 actually it doesn't bother me, but I was starting to think I was crazy, so now that you are in the club, I repeat, it doesn't bother nor annoy me

Hey I was the one stating it as "Piastavgo" on Reddit!

Now that I own the phone for a week I see that it is not happening under the same circumstances on the x compact. I came here to state this issue because I have this small annoyance since day one I got the phone and the last hour that I do my shopping searches on the phone it has "blinked" at least 20 times and none of that was while entering a search field. Although I still think this is directly related with the nougat update..

Sony, for the life of your sweet products, please release an update with which fixes it!

Hey!! I just saw this post. I actually think I resolved this issue by checking the "Large Mouse Pointer" option in the accesibility section of the settings and just leaving it checked. Tell me if that works for you! But I agree, hopefully Sony pushes an update soon that fixes this issue... Should be simple enough.

@TheAlexander @graham5571 actually after the last software update I didn't see the cursor popping up randomly, I think Sony already squashed that bug.

I'm at the end of my day with the large pointer turned on from accessibility settings and the random pointer is nowhere to be found!

If Sony has really fixed it in the April security patch that's great!! (it hasn't came here yet)

Since then the large pointer setting wierdly works! Thanks for your random finding.. 😀
