Camera not working

Sorry for this repeated topic but the last time this was happening with my Xperia X it seemed to sort itself out after rubbing the lens with my finger then with my sleeve (this was even following more techy suggestions like back-up/reset which had very mixed reviews from others with the same problem!) and occasionally clear the camera app data as well though this didn't seem to make a big difference, if any at all but obviously wasn't bad.

It's now happening again and even my advanced solution of wiping the lens won't suffice.

What's happening is I open the camera, the screen is black, the back/home/open programmes icons at the bottom are greyed out so can't be used, to close camera I have to sleep the screen and unlock again then the icons work.

Although it seems stuck with a black screen, it does seem to be able to show something WHILE I'm running the lens but when I stop and take my finger off it goes black again.

Selfie camera has no problem at all and works fine.

This looks like a hardware issue to me, like some connection or cable is loose and rubbing/pressing the lens will make it connect briefly.

If you didn't try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion then go ahead and use it as a last resort, this will rule out any software issues (and it's more advanced than simple factory reset). If you already tried that then contacting your Local support would be the next step to get your phone examined by a professional.

Since the last update I have many problems with the camera, it stops and heats up too much, I do not know what I can do, I think Sony should review the last update

The xperia X is overheating with the use of the camera in a few instants with the moderate use it closes on its own, is your device like this?

I have exactly the same problem, the camera is not working, the selfie camera is perfect but the principal camera is only a black screen, Sometimes it turn on but sitll a vertical colors, i dont know how to fix it

so sorry i never replied to this topic to say 'solved'...

turns out it was just a hardware issue so i got my phone replaced through the insurance with my network provider. as for the poster above, those exact same things were happening on my phone as well. would seem as another poster said there's likely a loose connection inside near the lens that for a while may momentarily work then disconnect itself again before it deteriorates totally and doesn't work at all.

This has happened to me twice. Luckily my phone is still in warranty and so Sony have fixed it for me both times, though I have been without my phone for 2 weeks out of the 6 months I've had it.

It's a design\build flaw in the phone imo.

My xperia tablet camera is not available to use,it has a black screen,neither the selfi nor the back camera works. I am sure the video is also affected.

Hi. Unfortunately yes. My xperia x also has heating issues with camera. Try close all apps before starting camera. Sometimes it works. Change your default storage to phone rather than extrrnal sd card.

HI everyone

Fews days ago i did an accident and at that time my phn was in my pocke. After accident my back camera and flash light is not workin.

Last night suddenly It's start workin. But Today morning i saw its again not workin.

So asking help from those people who can help me really.please i am not able to take any photo many days.

The back camera of the phone deteriorates constantly, they do it even though I bring service twice, but it deteriorates again after a week or 20 days
