Yesterday I run the GPS test from the Diagnostics app in safe mode. I did 5 consecutive tests standing at the same city square with enough open sky. 2 tests failed, 3 passed.

According to an App GPS Status, my Xperia X Compact can see lots of satellites, but can't fix enough of them to determine location. Sometimes it fixes one satellite.

Purging assistance gps data by the command *#*#7378423#*#* and restarting solves the problem only temporarily. After the purge the phone can fix satellites and find location. In several hours GPS stops working again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Testing GPS outside with enough open sky. Android 7.1.1

Thank you for your answer!

Yes, I do have location set to high accuracy.

I booted my phone phone in safe mode twice yesterday with time interval of about 9 hours. I could not use the app GPS status to check GPS since it was disabled in safe mode. So, I had to use Google Maps.

In both attempts I walked around 400 meters. Location indicator in Google Maps was updating by big jumps, not smoothly. I suppose GPS was not working properly.

This test seems to be useless. GPS passes the test even in normal boot mode. It still can't fix enough satellites to determine location.
