Problems with Whatsapp notifications

Hi there,

I have updated to Oreo two days ago.

Things from the previous configuration have changed.

Whatsapp notifies me with pop up messages (from the top of the screen, taking like 25% of it). It is very annoying. I can't get rid of it.

Also, I set the settings to no vibration, but it changes by itself back to vibration. I changed settings both in whatsapp and the phone notifications but it doesn't work

It took me a while to have the phone working as I wanted and now with the update, everything is messed up.

What can I do?

That's standard oreo notifications

As for the vibrate notification, check each app notification settings.

Hi,

So I have to accept that the notifications will be popup from the top-25% always? I don't think this is normal. When I got the phone I had the same, but finally got rid of them.

About vibration. Yes, I changed the settings (in the app) but it changes automatically back. Without me touching anything. That's not normal

Hi, try this:

Settings, notifications, info of the aplications, Whatsapp, notifications, chats. You can choose this posibilities on the importance level: Sound and appear on screen, only sound or nothing.

I did that. no sound, no popup. in the level section

but it changes

the point is other apps also have these popups notifications

I just don't want them

What can I do?

I'm willing to go to the previous version of Android

So I don't know what to tell you, I installed Oreo 34.4.A.2.19 in Spain yesterday and doing that doesn't give me any problem ...

also from the settings of the Whatsapp itself there is an option to allow pop-up window to be disabled, in WhatsApp, settings, notifications, allow pop-up window

I guess you've already tried it, but maybe if you uninstall WhatsApp and reinstall it ?, or make a software repair with Xperia Companion.

But what happens to you is not normal, because I do not have problems.

I have the exact same problem. I actually don't mind the whatsapp notifications in the top bar but I do not want my phone to vibrate for whatsapp in any way. I have now turned off all notifications for whatsapp because I don't know how else to fix it. All was fine before the latest oreo update...... , I HATE it when a software updates messes with your settings.
