This is the connector that passes through the hinge of the articulated screen. It's a common enough problem with older cameras but this model is quite recent

If it's still under guarantee you can register it for a repair here: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/repair

Cheers

Mick

HDR-HC5 LCD "tracking" problem

Remember years ago, when TVs were full of tubes, and there was a "tracking" adjustment. If the picture kept scrolling up or down, you could alter the tracking until the picture steadied itself. Well, when I open the LCD on my camcorder, the picture keeps on scrolling upwards, refreshing itself from the bottom. When I flip the screen through 180, then it sorts itself out. Any ideas what could be causing this. The picture is fine through the view finder.
