Vaio power indicator light

I have a Vaio VPCEE3EOE, about 2.5 years old and in the last couple of days after shutting down, the green power light indicator remains permanently on. Any ideas about what is causing the problem.

try to remove charger and see if that green light is still on.

I thnk I've solved the problem.

I always run the computer from the mains, so switching off the mains just meant the battery would still power the light. Opened the battery pack, light extinguished. Closed battery pack, light remained extinguished. On start up light comes on and now extinguishes again after shutdown procedure.
