RAM DOES NOT MATCH

some days ago i bought the VGN-NS11S vaio notebook
it has 4GB RAM

in fact under > system information , detected total RAM is 4GB

but in the windows vista home task manager it detects only 3GB of total-RAM

does anybody know why?

Hello askrym and welcome to Club VAIO.

I think that's OK. A 32bit OS can allocate max 4GB of RAM, but other hardware (graphic card) may "steal" some portions of that, so what's really useable for the OS is lower than the 4GB.

so, if i've well understood .. 1 GB of RAM is shared with the graphic card by factory defaults
