Disc drawer sometimes refuses to open

I gave my partner my Sony BDVN7200W Bluray system.

There are frequent occasions when the disc drawer refuses to open, either by remote or by pressing the button on the system.

Occasionally unplugging helps but not always.

Any help?

When it refuses to open, place your finger on it, gently, and see if there is a slight stirring, as if it is trying to open and failing, when you try to open it, or none at all.

If there is a slight stirring, then when you do get it open, judicious use of WD-40 may assist.
