RDR-HXD890 also stuck in standby

Can anyone suggest a solution please. My recorder seems to be stuck in standby with the words UPDATE on the panel.

Do I just wait or try a factory reset?

This has just happened, was working fine last night.

It is a universal problem that they are aware of.

I have both a HXD870 and HXD 890 and both have lost digital sighnal today. - I've spend most of afternoon reading the mannuals and trying to retune so not very hapy if this is a fault that Sony have caused.

Same problem here. Couldn;t get anything out of it last night. It STILL shows 'update' this morning!

use the recorder power button trick to get it out of UPDATE mode

set location to france in easy setup to get the channels working

but no epg as yet, awaiting a permanent fix
