Why deny free offers?

I purchased an Xperia 10 IV via EE in November 2024, mainly because of the offer of a free speaker and headphones. At no point during the purchase process, or conversation was I informed that I had to actually claim the gift, or would receive a link to claim it.

In January, I contacted EE who told me to contact Sony directly, as it was a third party offer.

I did this and got an email apologising that I hadn't been able to get the gift, and gave me an email address to contact.

On doing so I got a reply that the date had passed for claims. I was NEVER told the process to claim, not that there were time constraints.

EE don't want to know, neither do Sony, who will not even give me an address or contact information on who or where to register a formal complaint with them. I am stuck between 2 huge companies, neither of which accepts responsibility, or will fulfill the offer, even though it was no fault of mine that I wasn't informed properly on getting the gift.

Sony are not interested in me as a customer or as a person. To them, I'm a nuisance who they can fob off with rude emails.

How do I complain formally about this? Even Sony will not tell me.......

So much for being a responsible and caring company!
