SEL20F18G

I have a SEL20F18G lens, but noticed the internals shifting when lens is tilted up and down. This happens when the lens is not fitted to the body.

Is this normal with this type of lens?

Appreciating any advise, Hans

Hey Hans,

That should be normal, it might be the focus assy, when turning the camera on, the focus assy is initiated and does not move freely any longer, so if you shake the lens when it is not mounted on camera you will hear a rattling noise from inside the lens.

Hope this helps

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your advise, but i do not hear any sound, and am not shaking the lens. I gently tilt the lens right side up, left side down and vv. The lens package slights gently with the movement, but it does worry me and wonder if it will not give other issues on the long run.

Hey hans171160, do you mean it moves outwards?

Hello Hannah,

Thanks for the response. There is no external movement. I just learned from the community that the movement is caused because of the motor type being lineair.
