Hi

 

Just a quick query about the Android updates for my newly ordered 65XE8596:

 

I've never had a Sony TV with the Android OS system so, don't know anything about it or how it works.

 

What ias the current version?

 

I've seen Android Nougat and Marshmallow; what are these different versions and, is one version upgraded by the other?

 

Can the 65XE8596 TV be updated by either version?

 

The current version for my TV is v6.2602; is this Nougat or Marshmallow?

 

I spoke to Sony support a couple of hours ago and was told that Anroid 7.0 has not been released yet?  When is it being released?

 

Is Android 7.0, Nougat or Marshmallow?

Your device is a 2017 ATV2 and firmware is based on Nougat.

 

ATV1 models from 2015 and early 2016 are still based on Marshmallow.

 

Sony support is useless. They know nothing about their own products.

Android 6 = Marshmallow

Android 7 = Nougat
