I bought this TV a few days ago. There is no You View app or any way to watch on demand TV. I went back to Curry’s & the sales person found the on demand channels in the Sony Select App. I tried Sony Select on my TV and only got a list of top features apps & no on demand channels.
This TV is a Google TV, Is this a factor? The Sony “Expert” said Sony may be changing their software to change from Android to Google & “may be doing an update later”
I am not happy paying almost 2K for a tv without on demand channels.
Any suggestions?
This is one of the weirdest situations to be in, but when it comes to large company agreements, things rarely go to plan.
I just hope it's sooner than later since most people have no idea about this.
@LightFoot kudos for the link, much appreciated!

Many thanks for you speedy reply & link.
I am going back to Curry’s PC World tomorrow to see what they have to say about this issue with photos of some of the comments in your link.
There is a Sony “Expert” in the store all week so I will see what she has to say. She was wearing a tee shirt with the Sony logo. She claimed that she knew nothing about this issue as did the Curry’s salesman. As they did not have our model in the store he took us to what must have obviously been an older model which showed the on demand channels via the Sony Select app. Surely they both must have known about this issue yet chose to tell us “ to go home & access the Sony Select app & all would be OK”. How disappointing!
Here's the official Sony reply as given over email:
"We're sorry to hear that you're facing difficulties with your TV. We'd like to highlight that your TV is ready for these applications, so there is no fault with the TV. Sony is currently waiting on an agreement with the app providers to be able to make the applications available to you. We hope to make this available as soon as possible. If you still are not happy to wait or believe that you were misinformed at purchase, you may discuss this further with your dealer."
Hope this helps!

@ksaro1 claims at the end of the linked-to thread that going to Live TV and Catch-up and signing in will bring up the missing Players.
It’s quite possible, in the topsy-turvy world of YouView on Sony (see my sig) that while Sony haven’t got agreement on these Apps, that the agreements YouView have are continuing, and so the players that YouView provide are still accessible from there.
I bought this Sony Google tv a week ago nobody took the trouble to tell me I couldn't watch any on demand ei itv hub bbc iplayer etc. Also being Google why can't I download playstore. The only way to get on demand is use the Amazon firestick. Very dissapointing we shouldn't have to do this for the amount we paid out to start with.
Yes, the current situation with the players is disappointing. A Roku Express device, though, is equally as good as an Amazon Firestick as a way to have them in the meantime.
Or you could claim to the retailer that you have been missold and return the TV, but then you would have to switch to a different make, probably LG, as I think Samsung are in the same boat as Sony.
Re the Google Playstore, most of the apps are expecting more interaction than a TV remote can provide, and for the user to be up close.
Hence there is a dedicated Google TV Store, for apps that have been written or adapted to be suitable for a remote user sitting a normal TV viewing distance from the screen, and there are unavoidably less of these than the full range of Google/Android apps suitable for smartphones and tablets, etc.
hi
Thanks for reply seems all in same boat, I think we have to sit tight and hope they sort things out. I had a cheap Toshiba before buying Sony no problem with that should have stuck with it.
Hey coups67 , you might also consider casting the apps from your phone./
