Any ideas @Anonymous? Prompted by announcment from BBC here. Currently only Panasonic can view 4K clips of Planet Earth II.

Guys,
I think this is more to do with the implementation of Youview rather than Android. The Phillips Android TV's are supported for the UDH iPlayer trial. IMHO the Youview implementation on the Sony TV's is worthless as it knocks out the satellite reception and also does not allow use of the ITV Hub app without installing Youview. I have it switched off. I would not mind betting that the BBC iPlayer app is linked to the poor Youview implemenation. Let's hope they get it sorted, as I'm hoping that some of the World Cup will be in 4K via iPlayer this summer.

Some models were supported - the XE70* range from 2017.

The XE70 is not an Android TV though so not really sure the relevance of that to my quote or this forum to be honest?
This tweet doesn't bode too well. Time will tell.

Sorry I didn't know that XE70 is not an Android TV. I thought it was, and it's the only Sony model listed, so not entirely irrelevant in my opinion (but clearly not in your opinion). Was just trying to be helpful with that info, not only to you (but again you clearly don't need my help) but perhaps it might be useful info to another reader? Then again, perhaps I just won't bother any more! Cheerio...
