October’s photography competition – People

By now we’re sure that you know all about the Sony World Photography Awards that take place every year to discover new talent. If you’ve built up your confidence over the past few months, maybe you should think about applying?

But if you’re still not ready for a world-class competition, our monthly community competition is here to hone your skills. All you need to do to enter is upload your photos to the Competition photo gallery. You could win an amazing NEX-5T camera, a VIP trip for two to the Sony World Photography Awards ceremony in London next spring, stunning SWPA books and a year’s free membership to the World Photography Organisation.

This month’s theme is ‘People’. To inspire you, why not watch this Masterclass in portrait photography from Natalia Wiernik, SWPA Student Focus Photographer of the Year 2013.

Remember, you’re only one shot away from winning our monthly photography competition! All you have to do is upload your photographs to the Competition gallery here, and tag them with your country label. Good luck!

Terms and Conditions

1.            This promotion is open to residents of the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Ireland, Nordics, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain Russia and Romania only and must be aged 18 or over.

2.            Entrants will need to select the correct label for their country of residence. Entrants who select the wrong country will not be eligible to win.

3.            No purchase is necessary to participate in the competition.

4.            In order to be eligible to enter the competition you must have a Community profile.  If you do not have one, you can register on the site for free (at http://community.sony.co.uk).

5.            Members of Sony and their supporting agencies are not allowed to join the competition.

6.            EXIF data must be available.

7.            The competition runs from 12:00 (noon) CET on Monday 14th October 2013 and will close on Sunday 3rd November 2013 at 23:59 CET. No entries will be accepted after 23:59 CET on that date. 

8.            All submissions must be the user's own work. Please make sure that you’re the image owner and have full rights on the picture. If you take pictures of people please make sure that you have a signed model contract.

9.            Pictures will be judged by SWPA winner Natalia Wiernik. The winning picture selection will take place on Tuesday 5th November 2013.  The judge’s decision is final. (Votes are only a reference and are not the deciding factor.)

10.          The winner will be notified by email within 2 days of the selection having taken place.

11.          If no response to the notification is received from the winner within 72 hours, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to an alternative winner.

12.          The prize will be delivered to the winner within 6 weeks after the date of response from the winner.

13.          Any taxes payable in relation to the prize will be for the winner to bear.

14.          Maximum of one vote per person.  No maximum number of competition entries.

15.          The prize is not transferable or exchangeable. No cash or credit alternative is available.

16.          Should the prize become unavailable for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to provide a substitute, similar prize of approximately equivalent or greater value.

17.          By entering the prize draw, participants will be deemed to have accepted and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
