DSC HX300

Hi,

I have a technical problem with my cybershot DSC HX300

I've searched an read a lot about video size limit, but haven't found a clear answer

1°/ When reaching 2 GB, my camera juste stop recording, cutting the video, withour creating a new file and going on. I've lost a 1 hour christmas video and it is so frustrating (only have 30 minutes)

2°/ in technical spec it is written you can choose a MP4 3M option that could last until 1h10m. But I don't have the option to lower the quality of the video under AVC HD 9M (HQ)

I'm afraid to be limited to 30m video if there is no way to configure the camera for creating a new file and going on when reaching the 2GB

Can anyone help ?

Thanks in advance

Stephane

29m59s is a Commercial limit and a kind of protection from high temperature...

The larger the size of the movie image, the higher the image quality. The higher the amount of data used per second (average bit-rate), the higher the image quality.

Select a movie recording format by pressing MENU   (Settings)   (Shooting Settings) [Movie format] in shooting mode. [Details]

! The record on MP4 3M is VGA = 640 x 480... Wow!

Hello @sarnoud,

the camera stops recording after 30 minutes, if the video video file has a size of 2Gb by then, that is pure coincidence.

Photo cameras need to be limited to under 30 minutes, otherwise they are taxed higher (like video cameras are).

Hello @sarnoud,

you should always be able to start a recording just a few seconds after the first 30 minutes ran full.

I recommend to always stop the recording when you have the option to not lose anything important, even if you still have time until the 30 minute mark - this way it is less likely that the camera stops in a situation you don't want it to stop.

Thanks for your answer.

But I was recording a "christmas karaoke thing" and participating.

I cannot just tell me "oh 25 minutes"....

It's a pain
