What does IP mean?

IP stands for Ingress Protection. This is a scale that defines the water- and dustproof capabilities of connectivity products.

The first number after the IP defines how well the product copes with solid (but small) objects such as powder, dust, and sand. This scale goes from 0 to 6.

The second number after the IP refers to protection against liquids and the scale goes from 0 to 8.

IPX67-rated speakers: SRS-XB13, SRS-XB23, SRS-XB33, SRS-XB43

IP67 3.jpgYour Sony speaker has an IP of 67. This means you can take your speaker to the pool, the forest, the desert, or wherever you like, without worrying that you will damage it with sand, dust, water, or other liquids. It is even salt resistant so there are no problems with taking it to the beach either!

Your Sony speaker has been tested and maintains its operability even when gently submersed in water to a depth of 1m and left for 30 minutes.

Finally, if your speaker gets dirty, rinsing and washing the speaker are an easy way to keep it clean.

Anything I should watch out for?

To guarantee the IP67 rating, the cap must be securely fastened.

If the surface of the system gets dirty, do not use detergent, thinner, benzine, alcohol, etc. to clean and do not brush the system. Whether you can completely wash it off or not depends on the dirt or stain.

Also be aware that deformation or damage from dropping the speaker or subjecting it to mechanical shock may cause deterioration of the waterproof and dustproof performance.
