I posted a while ago about how a Sony HT-XT3 was apparently destroyed by a software update. It had been working perfectly before the update, but afterwards it was impossible to display the menu in order to configure the device, or, in particular, to do a factory reset.
The advice from a Sony sage on the message board was to take it for repair.
Against my better judgement I did just this, making an 80 mile return trip in order to do so, and expecting a repetition when I went to collect it.
This wasn't however necessary, because the approved repairer rang a few days later to say that the board had failed and that they could not obtain spares. Hence the item is junk after only 4.5 years service.
I won;t buy anything made by Sony again, and advice others to exercise caution.
Hey, I'm so sorry to hear this. Try contacting Sony and asking for an alternative, I believe there's a guarantee for 5 years for the availability of the parts.
