Hi there, I’m just trying to get my head around this with my soundbar.
so any content that uses Dolby Atmos will play fine using that. But anything that has Dolby Digital (DD Plus, 7.1 and 5.1) will not play in those formats instead it will just use LPCM 5.1 and I want to know why. My HDMI is 2.1 and plugged directly into the ARC hdmi on my TV. Output is the Apple TV 4K which supports and uses those formats.
i don’t get it that any content that does not have Atmos will just play using LPCM 5.1. I want to use Dolby digital but I can’t figure it out.
please help thank you.
Your HT-ZF9 is just like a receiver and play what comes in..... If Atmos then it will be atmos, if LCPM then it will be LPCM.
Issue comes from your Apple TV, maybe something's is not correct with the settings. You should try to check in Apple Forum there are plenty of topics with people having same issue as you.
Hi, to receive a Dolby Digital signal, you need to connect the TV that is compatible with eARC or ARCto the HDMI OUT (TV eARC/ARC) jack with the HDMI cable. If your TV’s HDMI IN jack is not compatible with eARC or ARC, connect the TV to the TV IN (OPT) jack with the optical digital cable to receive a Dolby Digital signal. I hope this works.
