Hello Sony, Everyone
Is there any way we could have a firmware update to allow ALLM from our Consoles (Xbox Series X) through the Soundbar?
I just tested going direct to my Panasonic TV (65HZ1000) and Auto Low Latency Mode was allowed to be turned on/off, then when I used the Soundbar as a pass through the ALLM selection was greyed out, thus telling me the unit doesn’t allow it.
Can we please have this as a firmware update
Thanks
Hi,
Currently I'm not aware of such an update. so better connect your Xbox to the TV directly to make use of ALLM.
Cheers
Peter
Thanks Peter,
Is there any plan to have this in an update, as people are buying new consoles which has ALLM? (Series X Xbox and PlayStation 5)
This means we are all having to make do with TV speakers which are, to out it mildly ‘pointless’
Please can you find out anything, I’m sure this could be added in software?

No idea why this extra post was added
This can only be added in software if the hardware already supported it (HDMI 2.1 ports and logic).
It's possible of course, but highly unlikely I think, especially considering the release date for both of them being 2017 and the fact that certification and testing would usually delay a release.
But there's always hope, I'm just guessing to be honest 🤷🏻♂️

Ok so from what I gather, due to the release date of the HT-ST5000, 2.1 wasn't even thought about, and for ALLM to work as a pass through, the Soundbar would require new hardware for this to work? or am I barking up the wrong tree? (sorry just a bit peed now as I thought this bar would last years)
I spent around £1300 in 2018 for a Soundbar which is now going to fail me because it doesn't have the correct 2.1 port, and I'm about to upgrade my TV to ensure I have full 2.1 VRR / ALLM with my Xbox Series X, which I see no point now as my high end Soundbar wont allow the ALLM.
I presume Sony are working on high end Sound bar then if the ST5000 is now running quite old (2017 release date), any idea of the product details if so?
EDIT: Ok I have just read that as long as the TV has the FULL 2.1 HDMI eARC connection, then the Soundbar will allow the ALLM passthrough, but if the TV has 2.0b then it will not? Which is why ALLM on my Xbox Series X is greyed out as I only have this on my TV eArc HDMI connection.
Can someone from Sony please confirm this for the Soundbar, if this is true... then I am a much happier bunny (as it's Easter)
I don’t understand why you can’t plug the Xbox directly into the TV, and get the ALLM the TV provides, but still have the Xbox sound going out from the TV over eARC so the soundbar can do its thing with it?
