Power Consumption

Hi there. I have an older KDL-40EX401 TV and I'm looking at saving energy by turning off at the wall overnight.

The specs say this for power consumption:

  • Power Consumption (Standby) (W)

    0.19, 146, 110

What do these three numbers mean? 0.19 seems a reasonably (good) standby power consumption. The other two are huge numbers.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

110 Watt Picture Mode "Home"
146 Watt Picture Mode "Store"

The TV consumes more in the Bright Picture Mode which is usually set in Shops.

Thanks. But these numbers are listed under standby. Would picture mode be relevant in standby?

It must be an error on the site page. In the Italian Technical Data Sheet we read:

Dimensioni / Peso / Consumo / Standby

• 40" Solo TV (LxAxP): 992 x 598 x 100 mm / 13,9 Kg / 110 Watt -

146 Watt (casa - negozio) / 0,19 Watt (St-by)

Dimensions / Weight / Consumption / Standby

• TV Only 40" (WxHxD): 992 x 598 x 100 mm / 13.9 Kg / 110 Watt - 146 Watt (Home - Shop) / 0.19 Watt (St-by)

@mattcd216, these numbers indicate the power consumption based on the TV size, and whether it's home mode or shop vivid. It is illustrated in details in page 15 of the TV manual: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4168/41681481M.pdf
