If you have a multimeter, you could measure the voltage at the adaptor output. That will tell you if it is the adaptor that is kaput. But make sure there is power from the mains to the adaptor; socket on, if switched, and take the fuse out of the plug and check it for continuity, make sure it isn’t blown.
