The screen on my Sony Vaio VPCF12S1E does not turn on.
If I press the button "DISPLAY OFF" twice then the screen turns on for a few seconds - then it turns black again.
In the few seconds while the screen is on I can see that colors/light etc is perfect, so the screen it self seems to be working OK
Adding an external monitor also works fine.
Any hints on how to get my laptop screen turned permanently?
Thanks
Lars
Do any get any fan activity, other lights, or any type of life sounds that come out of the system when you power it on?

Hi larksk8888,
As an external monitor works then it would seem that you have a hardware/cabling problem with the inbuilt display.
If your machine is within the warranty period contact support, otherwise you may wish to contact one of the Sony repair partners.

Hi Katherine,
Thanks for your input.
The PC performs a normal startup - I can see that the normal startupscreens are shown (on the external screen), and there is no unsual fan activity or other noises during startup.

Hi Rich,
The PC was sent to repair during the warrenty period, and here it got the screen replaced - could be that they didnt get the cabling correct, but it did work correctly until last month though.
What I do not understand is how the screen can shown a perfect picture for a few sec's when I press "Display Off" button.
Color is perfect, no flickering, clear picture - only problem is that it goes away after a few sec's and then the screen turns black.
Lars.
