How can i get sound to come out of my tv speakers when connecting my vaio.

I have a vaio running windows 7 and want to connect it to my tv to use as a dvd player but i can't find a way of getting the sound to come out of the tv speakers, it just comes out of the laptop speakers. It's a sony bravia tv by the way.

What cables are you using to connect to the TV?

If you are using HDMI, try going to Control Panel -> Sound and change the sound output to HDMI digital.

         I am using hdmi and have just opened up sound under control panel and can't find an option to change to hdmi digital. On opening sound i'm presented with playback, sounds, recordings and communications tabs with no option under any to change to hdmi digital.

Which model Vaio do you have?

Have you installed all Vaio Updates?

Have you tried another HDMI cable?

            The model no is VPCEB1E0E, all vaio updates are installed, I haven't tried another hdmi cable but will give that a try as well.

            I wasn't aware sony had an operating system, the only one i'm aware of on this laptop is windows 7.

Right click on your volume on the start menu, playback device, and tell it you want to make your HDMI your Default
