Does anyone know what types of disc can be used as recovery discs and where they cab be bought from please?

welcome to club VAIO..

It can vary with Vaio's so it may be easier to say you can't usually use Blu ray, DVD RAM, CD-R & CD-RW media

Normally Vaio owners use 2 DVD's when creating a set of recovery disc's, usually DVD+R discs by Verbatim, TDK or Sony are the popular choice.
