Rubbish Support for new VPC-Z1

I'm so extremely disappointed with Sony, they have no idea what their customers need. I recently bought a new Z1, one of the first to be delivered in fact. I'm CEO of a company and as such a very busy guy. Also, one of my kids is very sick and I'm spending 4 days per week at the hospital and the rest working. Thus my Z1 is absolutely unmissable. Ditto the 3G internet connection, they hospital does not allow access to their WiFi.

Last week the 3G hardware in the Z1 failed, disaster! I called Sony and they confirmed the problem and told me that I'd have to send the system back. I pointed out that I also have an extended 3yr next day onsite warranty. They looked into this and then told me that because my model is 'customized' (you can only buy customized models from the Netherland website) that the (expensive) onsite warranty did not apply and I'd have to send the system back.

I have no idea how I'm supposed to continue to do my job without a laptop for a week or so. This is not the first time that I've had to send it back and the last time it was away for three weeks.

The Z1 is a very expensive system and I would have thought that the people who bought it would need next day onsite service. We buy a lot of Dell laptops for the business and they are all configurable and all come with next day, onsite service.

Also, how come I can buy a warranty from Sony for my Z1 and then only after the fact find out that it's not valid? Outrageous!

I love the Z1, it's a beautiful piece of equipment. But I cannot live with a system that is not properly support, even when I paid the money for the additional support. So now we're talking to Sony about returning the system. I shall replace it with a Dell, which I know comes with fantastic next day onsite service.

I wonder if this post will be allowed on to the website?
