Sony customer care - lol

I'd like to share my story with the community so that everyone knows how Sony deals with their unsatisfied customers.

I bought the Sony Vaio VGN-AW11Z/B (18,4") the 10th of december 2008, 2000 Euros price.

Three months after my purchase the hard drives stopped working. I had an extreme trouble trying to recover my data but eventually I managed to ship the laptop to Sony assistance and the problem was solved (hard drives replacement).

In July 2009 my battery completely died. I'd like to make clear that I've been extremely careful in the use of the power plug. The customer support told me that the warranty for batteries only lasts for 6 months, so basically pay for a new one or get out.

In the last days of November 2009 my hard drives broke down again. After another huge time investment to recover my data I shipped my laptop again to Sony assistance the 18th of December.

At the same time i sent a mail to the customer support to explicit my "dissatisfaction", asking either for the notebook to be replaced or to be refunded of my purchase costs.

Like this wasn't enough, a few days after Christmas I received an email from the support asking for a payment of 250 Euros to repair the on/off switch, while the disks had been replaced for free. There's no need to say that the casing was absolutely intact when it left my house. (if you think about it doesn't make any sense: how would I notice that the disks were broken if I couldn't turn on my computer?)

I can only assume that since the package they sent me for the shipment was inadequate for such a big laptop, it must have been damaged during the dispatch.

Since that date I'm just refusing to pay and no customer support manager has bothered to give me a call or send me an email. At this moment they're still in possession of my computer but there's no way in the world that I'm gonna pay for that...they're saying that if I don't want to pay they'll simply send it back broken...

Here you are the great Sony Customer support...lol
