Hello,
I have the above laptop that has a 32gb SSD but need more storage so does anyone know which hard drives SSD or spinning are compatible?
This might be a bit difficult since it's SSD. What model number is this?
Hi,
The laptop is a VGN-TX12VN and on the bottom it has a label saying model number PCG-4L2M
I dont mind replacing with a spinning hard drive if I can.
Thanks

Hi stbouff92,
Can you please check your model number? I suspect that it is possibly VGN-TZ11VN or VGN-TZ21VN. If so the drive should be a 1.8" ZIF PATA/IDE SSD.
Have a look at the following links but confirm compatibility with the supplier before purchase.

Actually I have looked again and on the bottom left of the screen above the hinge the model does say VGN-TZ12VN
I did buy an SSD 128gb but it didn't last very long. That was a MLC and they are not as reliable. I'd like to fit a conventional spinning disk. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi stbouff92,
You’re obviously correct on the model – I must have mistyped on my original search.
Not having a Vaio model with a 1.8” drive, nor carried this modification, I can’t give you any concrete guidance.
However as long as the replacement drive is PATA with a ZIF connector and is the correct thickness (these drives come in both 5mm and 8mm thick) I can’t see why there would be any problem.
You will find a selection at the following link, but they don’t come cheap...
