VGN-AR21M z key on keyboard not working

Hi,

I have a now ageing VGN-AR21M which has served me well over the years but recently the z key has stopped working properly e.g. to get that key in my subject and the previous sentence I had to press it well over 20 times or hold it down for around 5 seconds where I get a load of them. Clearly the key works as holding it down eventually provides loads of z's.

If there anything I can do to rectify this?

I've had to refix keytops on other laptops before (e.g., when my cat decided to pull some off my wife's laptop) and I found it a pain but possible. Is it worth removing the key top or is it likely to be something else?

This is really becoming a pain now. Has no one got any experience of this? I'm getting desperate.
