Sony Xperia Tablet powers itself off.. advice please!

Hi!

Bought a 32gb Xperia Tablet S last Monday and am happy with it.   I have this issue at the moment and would appreciate any advice.

If I do not use the tablet for a time, it goes into a 'standby mode' and I can touch the power switch to wake it up.  I then slide the unlock icon to make all active again.

However, after a period of non-use, my tablet switches off completely and I have to reboot and can see the SONY screen and then XPERIA screen, before it boots and is ready to use.

Occasionally this reboot happens within 5 minutes of being in sleep mode.:smileycry:

In Settings -> Display,  I have set the Power save mode as checked,  and Sleep is after 2 minutes.  Also in Settings, Developers options, stay awake is checked but I know this relates to when the tablet is being charged

Please can you advise me if there is any settings that I need to change or if I have been unlucky and have a faulty tablet and will need to return it to the Sony Store!

I was told that the tablet has an 'Eco Mode'  but that does not make sense because powering off means no mail check etc etc!

Ofiaich

I still get the tablet powering off, and it needs to be restarted.

I read that perhaps there are conflicts betweebn apps, but I am nto knowledgable to find out where.

I do not use the social life app but do use FaceBook and Twitter.  It would be an absolute nuisance to do a factory reset and install apps one by one to check where the conflict lies.  I wonder if there is another way to do it and if the log that LogCat generates would help to identify it?

I ran the record option on LogCat and it generated more than1000 pages I guess because the tablet did not power off for a long while..!

This is part of the log.  I made two parts bold but I don't have the knowledge to know if this is where the problem lies...

My tablet is also continuing to power off.

I have just done a factory reset without restoring apps so I will report back with the results.

Hi!

on XDA Developers an Xperia Tablet owner has upgraded to update 6,  and now has Wi-Fi issues...

Thalamus, is there any feedback from Sony on this yet?

After doing a factory reset without restoring any apps it is still powering down so don't think it is an app conflict.

Hi

Got a similar issue, with a 3 week old tablet, non responsive  screen on start up followed by shut down.  Tablet needs to boot 6 times before it stops shutting down.

I'll ask Sony to organise a replacement through my local Sony Centre today or they can have the option of explaining to them why there's a claim through www.moneyclaim.gov.co.uk heading their way.

Hi Thalamus,

I am getting no responce from telephone support, and the Sony Store where I bought the Xperia Tablet have prmised to get back to me, but nothing.....

What should I do next?  Just wait for Jelly Bean next February??

I will try to find a number for Sony's head office tomorrow....

Hi,

I got the same problem here in Germany and after 3 weeks got an answer from support - roughly translated: "The problem is known and the development department is working on a solution. Please wait for one of the next updates" (probably next February as you mentioned :smileywink:)

In the meantime I 've found a workaround with an app called "advanced wifi lock" - there is a free version also. It stops the wifi from disconnecting in standby and so far I had no reboots.

Hope this helps...

Bit of an update..

The software update v4.0.3 (release 6) that was mentioned earlier in this thread was not released to fix the issue that you guys are having..

However I can confirm that the issue is being investigated by Sony Japan, so it's probably not worth contacting your local country support office as they probably can not offer any solutions or updates at this time..

I suspect that the first we will know about an update is when one of you notice the notification appear on your Xperia tablet, that being said if I hear of any further information I will share it with you asap..
