I bought XZ2 Premium 2 weeks ago and have been using it since then. I am encountering this awkward sound/volume issue which I couldn't solve.
The notification and incoming calls sound/volume go extremely low and the touchpad sound goes completely silent without any clear reason. I tried to check the sound settings and everything seems to be just fine there. The only way to make the sound/volume work normally again is to restart the phone.
I wonder if anyone out there facing the same issue and knows any solution to resolve this annoying issue because it keeps happening again and again.

Strange behaviour indeed.
Did you try safe mode?
If it behaves normal in safe mode there might be an app installed that is causing your problem.
Maybe read read the manual again to see if you have overlooked some setting.
Often it is very hard to find what causes this mishap.
In that case the most simple method is not to investigate very much time and just do a factory reset which is described on this page.
Anyway, I hope you will find a solution.
Last resort is to send your device for repair.

This reply are totally bad i have the same. Problem encountered. It happen on facebook mesengger, ,whatssap and video recording. There is a bug in sony xperia xz2 premium device for unknow reason. Lastest update didnt solve it

Did you investigate like I suggested the other day?
How was volume in safe mode?
Any difference?
Factory reset still the same...
Before sending your device for repair, one more try.
Did you reinstall your apps?
Sometimes a downloaded app gets in the way.
So after a reset do not reinstall all your apps.
The support app on your device helps you take up contact with local support.
