The latest update downloaded onto my Sony Xperia has ruined it. My camera app refuses to open, and when it finally does the pictures don't save, but will turn up after about 30 mins. Phone seems sluggish, and there's a notification saying life app and AVG are running in the background. This notification is highly annoying.
The biggest problem is my battery life is none existent. After being fully charged yesterday and just having it in my pocket had my battery life at 3% within an hour. I need my phone and if it's going to have to be plugged in everywhere I go, I may as well just take my house phone. Please fix soon as my phone is rendered useless.
presumably you've already attempted a factory reset, an official software repair, disabling the notifications you don't want or disabling the apps entirely? single or dual sim please?
I'm having similar problems with the battery drain!
After the latest update, my wallpaper alignment keeps messing up by itself!
same problem with battery life, apps open by themselves, battery care seems to have stopped working, although on, everything is now very sluggish.
If I try to charge from either a PC or powerbank unit it actually drains the phone battery (in fairness it was doing this before Oreo update) also charging in the car is incredibly slow!
Help!!
Can't even use Facebook and Google maps... Most of the software are useless and the camera needs at least 15-20sec to activate... It's such a Shame for the update....
I can confirm most of this. Generally it's stuck often. My biggest problem is that I can't use android auto anymore well. This is horrible to use. I use Waze and OK Google don't respond or with big delays. I can't send telegram or whazzup messages if I drive. Google can't read messages and talk to me. My battery drains faster. Sometimes I can't wake up my phone with double tap. Before Oreo I had a very nice smooth phone. After update my phone feels like 5 years old phone... That is so bad...
cant factory reset as Ive got no time to mess around backing up my pictures and account to be told theres not enough room in the cloud. And even if I did It'd take forever to redownload it all and set it all back up again. I ve got pictures and info on my phone I definitely cannot lose if the resync fails for what ever reason someone at sony might have decided to mess that up to. An nice update to fix itself would be great and who ever is in charge of these updates having there job role questioned as they are terrible. My phone was amazing when I first got it, then someone had to fiddle and do an update.
I uninstall and switch off AVG. Much better performance and Google Auto works, not perfect but it works. So, if you don't need antivir app uninstall and disable it, you will get better performance, better battery.
Well on a not too dissimilar note I have a Sony Experia Z3 Dual Sim phone which I really liked. I actually landed up buying a 2nd one which was slightly different to the first (charhging port at bottom rather than on the side, Sim tray was also different, the second one also overhetad easily, disabling many fetaures, especially in summer) but it was still a good phone. This was until in March this year my phone updated and it completely destroyed the buetooth capabilities of the phone. The bluetooth wont stay connected for more than a minute or so if im lucky and then it just disconnects. I ahve tried everything under the sun to fix it but no joy. I eventually contacted Sony who says they woudl be ahppy to fix it and send me the bill. I was like **bleep**? You send out and update that destroys the bluetooth capabilities and then want to charge me to fix it.
Needless to say I now wont purchase another Sony product again due to this and am looking for a new phone as we speak. Terrible service from Sony.
This was also all after when I first purchased this phone it said it wa swaterproof up to 1m for however long. Now this was not the reason why I bought the phone by any means but a fun feature nontheless. So when in Croatia a decided to try take a quick underwtare pick. Straight after submerging the phone I saw bubbles and though oh oh! So took it out, the phone glitched but after restarting it seemed all okay luckily. I thenthouhht Iwa sure the add said I could take unerwater pics. So I googled this and see thata bouta year after them advertising this feature they released a statment retracting what they had previolsiy said. They proceeded to say they will now have no liability if anyone does put there phone underwater. However this 'underwater capability' was still been used to advertise the handset and the retarction stament is is only found if you sit and google it. Which you probably wouldnt do till you have a problem by which point it is too late.
Sorry Sony, I cannot trust you anymore and I think you need to learn more about customer service rather than customer sabotage. Sayonara!
Funny how many comments here and not customer service replies from Sony! I've been buying them since the vivaz and the z3 was a reasonable phone until this update, I generally believe they have done this to tempt people into new phones but believe me if this phone doesn't get sorted it will be the last piece of product I buy from Sony. Very disappointed in this, I actually have not seen one improvement in that update. Terrible! Actually surprised the keypad let me write this first time.
