message not sent phone number formatted incorrectly

Hello

Just got the xz premium last night and only today found that I cannot send text messages.

Whenever I try to send a text to any of my contact I get the following message at the bottom of the screen "message not sent phone number formatted incorrectly".

However I can still recieve text and call.

I've tried removing contact and adding them again, restarting the phone, clearing the cache and data, uninstalling and reinstalling the default andriod messenger also have attempted to try other sms/message apps but the problem still persist.

Was wondering if anyone has the same problem? or solution.

Hm must have not been in safe mode.

Try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

i have the same problem. i have the same options and stuff.I cant do the software repair because my pc broke. 

It happened to me after some update..

Again waste of my money 

PHONES ARE MADE FOR A COMMUNICATION SO PLEASE MAKE IT ONCE SO NOONE WOULD GET THOSE ISSUES.

Are the numbers in the correct format for your country/network?

Have you tried sending a message to yourself (to your phone number)?

Have you tried inserting the number directly in the message (instead of the contact)?

If you try the SIM card in another phone can you send messages?

Hey Huugen and SKID, 

Maybe a very obvious question, but have you made sure that you have credit on your sim card to send sms messages with.

I get the same error message that the number is formated incorrectly on a Sony, a OnePlus and a Samsung, all that they had in common was that they used the new Google contacts app and that I had no sms credit left.

This same thing has happened to me tonight. Sent a text to a friend, next msg 2 minutes later and it came up with this error msg..

I have no idea why but can someone please offer any information to help me out.

what i did was just download messenger and make it my main SMS, i used for a few months, then i used the standard messages. trust me it'll work.

I think u have used 100 messages and post messages will show the message what u got. So try next day to send messages. Thank you
