Quick questions, quick replies; ask anything about the Xperia XZ1!

Hello everyone!

We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling. Slightly_smiling_Face

The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 and forum staff will do our best to reply!

As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!

The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.

NOTE:
Support related questions, such as raising concerns and troubleshooting are best suited in a different thread/their own thread. Please try to see if there is a thread regarding your concern, and if not, feel free to create one! smile happy

I'm living in Europe. Tested on my XZ1 with GPS Test app - no Galileo sats displayed. Sorry, I could not give you a screenshot.

I cound not find the white pages of XZ1 here: https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/whitepapers/

Where I could find full description of LTE bands supported by the single SIM model? And when white pages will be available?

Hi @pavitradas,

There are three different versions of the Xperia XZ1, two single SIM versions and one Dual SIM version. I have listed the supported LTE bands below for each phone model just below.

G8341 supports the following LTE Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,38,39,40,41,66.
G8342 supports the following LTE Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,38,39,40,41,66.
G8343 supports the following LTE Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,20,25,29,38,40,41,66.

I have also requested some information on why the white paper is not available on the developer website or at the support website for this phone model and I will get back to you as soon as I have received it.

I hope that helps and have a great weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi @Jonas

Thank you for your answer. I have one more question - what about VoLTE support?

I know that this service is a network provider dependent and my mobile network operator will launch VoLTE in next few months - in spring 2018.

Looking here I found explanation: https://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaxz1/kb/801930746ffcf563015c0bfaac370057e6/ which is not relevant to my XZ1. There is no "Enable VoLTE" switch present on mentioned menu page. If I'm going to search VoLTE in settings - it's showing it as result but when I click on it - it goes to the network settings page but no VoLTE switch there.

My active customization is that with which the phone came out of the box - CE1 customized (1310-4294). I didn't flash, root or whatever.

In short - what I need to do in my case? Change the customization?

@SBSerendipity do you mean Smart call handling, where the incoming call is answered when you raise your phone to your ear? open the Phone app, then tap three dots icon in the top right corner and choose Settings > Calls > Smart call handling > switch the toggle to On.

@Killua96 XZ1 does support Galileo, except in the US.

You mean "doesn't", right? In Sony Mobile and Sony Mobile Developer's is mentioned only - A-GNSS (GPS + GLONASS), others sources saying the same - only Glonass and GPS is mentioned: GSMArena, PhoneArena, but strange thing is that in XDA Developers forum saying the same as you, mistakes in Sony Mobile's information base or fake information in internet?

By the way about Xperia C5 Ultra Dual saying the same that doesn't support Volte, but with code *#*#4636#*#* in phone information section i can see "turn off volte provisioned flag", what is mean by this forum user YoGem what Volte is supporting in Xperia C5 Ultra Dual (the same talking most internet sites, that after update to Marshmallow Xperia C5 Ultra got Volte support).

In Xperia E4G white paper is mentioned screen TFT, but the same mentioned source like GSMArena saying that screen is IPS LCD, so who's right? Sony's don't know what they are making or sources like to dream up, to invent and to devise own specifications? Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi @Unregistered user, according to the information which I have available, @najodleglejszy is correct in that Xperia XZ1 has support for Galileo satellite navigation - but unfortunately not in the US.

To Najodleglejszy i don't have any complaints, if sound like that i can say sorry, i'm sure he is right (i found the same information), as i siad my idea was to note Sony's mistakes Slightly_smiling_Face

I just received my XZ1 Dual (G8342). I'm in US and using T-Mobile - based on the comments above I was not able to find the answer: what is the status for VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and WiFi Calling for T-Mobile support? Should I return the phone or Sony is working on it and I can wait?

thanks.
