Quick questions, quick replies; ask anything about the Xperia XZ1!

Hello everyone!

We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling. Slightly_smiling_Face

The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 and forum staff will do our best to reply!

As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!

The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.

NOTE:
Support related questions, such as raising concerns and troubleshooting are best suited in a different thread/their own thread. Please try to see if there is a thread regarding your concern, and if not, feel free to create one! smile happy

full 17/19MP should give you the same field of view as the pixel-binned 12/8MP. Pixel-binning works like resizing a large image file to a smaller one, unlike cropping where you throw away the unused pixels. Each pixel in the resulting photo is usually an average of original neighbouring pixels, and this is commonly used to reduce noise.

Theoretically pixel-binned version is better due to the noise reduction, but in real life people are getting mixed result, so there's no perfect answer to the question. Try shooting in different resolution to see which you like better I suppose.

Hey XZ1 users!  XZP user here.

I was wondering if the the Dialer of the XZ1 supports/ has integrated Google Duo. (Being able to make video calls from the Sony Dialer instead of Duo)

Also are you satisfied with the Display flash or if you ever use it?  Also does display Flash depend on the brightness of the phone you have set, or does it always max the brightness?

Lucky guys you are.You have Treble, Display Flash and a new Dialer compared to the XZ1s brother the XZP Slightly_frowning_Face

Also, which Dialer do you prefer the new one or the old one?

Is it just me, or is the "scn" (scene mode/choise) gone in the camera app on the XZ1?

@Lazaros_K I'm not sure about XZ1 (although I expect it works in the same way), but on my XZ Premium when you tap the contact to pull up its card with details, you'll get an option to call them via Duo, as long as they use it. same with Whatsapp

Dumb question, is there a way to check notifications on the lock screen without triggering the fingerprint failed attempt?

@Owodiran1

Yes, updates are released gradually and timing will differ between markets. But you should make sure that you have the latest software by connecting your phone to a PC with Xperia Companion installed and it will check for updates.
