Hello everyone!

We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling.

The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 and forum staff will do our best to reply! 

As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!

The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.

So i just recently got an Xz1 off amazon and i was excited to get it because its the last of this sony design which i really like and wanted to see how much nicer the display is.

well i was disappointed to find out it has worse white balance than my X it looks more yellowish where the X is slightly bluer but i feel more true to white.

on top of that the Sony X gets much brighter for the same brightness level. and testing HDR content side by side my Sony X is able to deliver more details in the shadows.

how is this possible when Sony X is not even HDR certified and the XZ1 is supposed to be flagship??

did i get a defective unit should i replace it has sony quality gone down this far.

Hello I had the same feeling when I upgraded from my xz. After trying to find out which was the difference I saw that th lest generation IPS panels like the x and xz had the colors more saturated almost as the vivid mode on the newer xz1. Like you, in the beginning I felt it was a downgrade but later I can say it was only because I was used to it similar as when people change from an amoled to an IPS, the change is not really because one is worst than the other is only by what they got used to. IPS screen on xperia xz1 is great and it really is HDR. A little more true to life colors and less blue than previous generations but deffinetly an improved screen. Enjoy your device.

except this is not true because i have done extensive tests. I have tested vivid modes on both and the vivid mode on the xz1 is way off the charts with way too much saturation. The vivid mode on the sony X does not do anything in fact it largely stays the same. 

the X has a perfect balance of not being too saturated and being vivid. With the xz1 it feels like a low resolution yellow tint all over the screen. The xz1 does have slightly less saturated colors but the XZ1 has a greenish/yellowish tint where as with the X i can see more shades of color. 

HDR content looks better on my X. my X is able to reveal more details than my xz1 can on top of having better black levels. 

i have either got a defenctiive low quality model or Sony messed up big time on a flagship 2017 phone.

Why XZ1 lacks on hdr? Turning On or Off doesn't make any difference to the shot. I remember that Z3 was more aggressive on that.Manual - no hdr.

Manual - hdr forced On. No difference in shadows.

anyone else notice light bleed from the top of the display and the edges?

good morning to all,

after the last 2-3 updates the battery works worse

before it reached around 6 hours of display, not after 4 hours I neeed to charge.

I don't use different apps, no facebook no games just work on my cell.

any suggestion?

My microphone suddenly dead when i make a call..and i have tried to record with sony audio recorder and my voice did not recorded, i've tried using headphones and headset my voice did not recorded too, I think it's software bug, any solution ?
