Hi all.
I'd like to ask users around here if anyone else has troubles, or to be precise, cannot reconnect to saved hidden SSID network at all.
We've recently upgraded our Wifi network that allows more features and we now have two separate Wifi networks, which one of (the hidden one) allows to access domain files, while the second one is basically for quests.
I have no issue adding the hidden SSID and connecting to it. However, after few minutes, or rather, when the devide locks (or goes to "sleep", no idea which terms is it to describe it nowadays), I'm disconnected and the phone is unable to reconnect back to it. Signal is great, **bleep** I'm 5 meters from nearest AP, yet nothing. All I can do is remove the saved SSID and add it again. Rinse and repeat...
Now, I'd like to know, if it is an Android problem, or Xperia specific.
I'm running the latest 8.0, software version 41.3.A.2.58. I already tried the software repair, without any change to this behaviour.
And please, if youre gonna post something such as, don't hide the network, etc., please save yourself the time, not interested in such "solutions". The hidden SSID exists for reason I stated above plus it's part of Android and Xperia Wifi options.
Thanks in advance!
I am having a similar, but worse, problem on my brand new XZ2 running Pie. It will not connect to a router that has a hidden (non-broadcasted) SSID. If I change the router to broadcast it, then I can connect, but as soon as I change it back to no broadcast, I lose the connection. Deleting and readding the save connection does not work at all. No broadcast SSID, no connection. Broadcasting for me also is not an option.
Go to advanced settings and set hidden to yes
I dont have the option that says Hidden Network in Advanced Options
I have a similar problem with my Xperia XZ2 Compact.
I have a wifi network at work with a hidden SSID. Every time a get back to the office, the phone would not reconnect to the network. I need to prod it some way, e.g. switching on/off the wifi, or selecting the hidden network from the list of save networks and then clicking Cancel.
I confirm that this problem is only with Sony. I have a Samsung phone, a Samsung tablet and a Microsoft Surface tablet, and they connect to the hidden SSID network quickly and smoothly.
None of the Android/Xperia updates have improved the situation.
It is very annoying.
During the process of logging into the hidden network Open Advanced Settings, you will find the hidden network is selected None Change it to Yes and log in and the password will always be saved.
Go to advanced settings and set hidden to yes.
