Wifi calling

Does anybody know how to set up Wi-Fi calling? My service provider (UK) is BT. They say, if my phone is compatible with Wi-Fi calling and I have latest software, it should be a menu option under 'apps' 'settings'. I cannot find it. All help offered will be appreciated please. Thanks.

You should get a better answer from the BT forum, but I don't think what you have been told is correct. I have Wi-Fi calling working on my Vodafone UK phone and there is no option under Apps - Settings.

The setting on my phone is under Phone - press 3 dots - Settings - Calls, but the setting did not appear until Vodafone provisioned it. This was done over the air by Vodafone after I asked them to do it.

You can check if your phone is compatible with Wi Fi calling by doing the following.

Dial *#*#4636#*#* - Phone Information - scroll down and there should be an option for Wi-Fi Calling Provisioned. If the slider is in the off position I think you need to get BT to provision it for you. If you move the slider yourself it will probably go back to off again when you leave the menu.

When Wi-Fi calling is working it will only work at times when your Wi-Fi signal is stronger than your mobile signal and it does this automatically.

Dear Tizer

Just a quick note of thanks for taking the time and trouble to give me such a comprehensive reply. I am not yet able to use wifi calling but will be getting back to BT as soon as I am able. Thanks again.

Has anyone got their Service Provider to switch this on if the phone was not purchased from them?

I use a Sony XZ1 (bought  direct from Sony) with the Three intouch app. They have discontinued the app but say they can not activate the WiFi calling option even tho i can see it (*#*#4636#*#*) They say only Sony can activate this.

Can i get the WiFi option activated via other means? I relly on Wifi calling as i now work in an undergrounf office. Three want to sell me a signal booster but it runs off 240v power. Don't think my company would be happy with me using it. Or they can sell me another new phone with the options availiable but only if bought from them!!??!!

I was in a similar position with Three when they stopped the InTouch app. My research suggested that Threes wifi calling wouldn't work with my sim free XZ1C.

I therefore swapped to Vodafone and it works great. I also tried my wife's EE sim, and that also worked.

The funny thing is that Vodafones coverage is better in my village, so I don't actually need WiFi calling now!

Nothing. Three gave me the Sony helpline number 03705 237 237.

As suspected Sony say it is the network provider that activates it. Three did offer me a new phone with it activated... Really Three? Sort it out!
