Sharing media from Sony phone to Sony TV problem
Hello,
I'm trying to share photos and videos from Xperia 5 II (Android 11 with last updates) to Bravia KD-49XE700 (Linux TV with last updates), but the phone doesn't see the TV . Screen mirroring works without problems and if I take another phone (I tried the Galaxy A50 and Xperia XZ Premium both with Android 9) then they both see the TV and sharing works. I also tried the PC and also without any problems, but 5 II nothing 😞
I did a factory reset on the TV and the phone too, but it didn't help.
Do you know what the problem might be?
Thanks

Do you know if your TV model has a built in casting feature or do you need to use chrome cast device? you can let us know the model to check too.

Yes, TV supports this, I have been using this feature for several years with different phones 🙂
I wrote that it works but not with the Xperia 5 II and I'm trying to find out why 🙂

I couldn't find the specs for the model on the UK support page, so I tried reaching out to the Sony support reps directly, and they confirmed that this model doesn't have Chromecast/Cast built-in support.
How is it that it's working on your TV with other phones, when it's not supposed to? Do you have a Chromecast dongle?

I don't know if it's Chromecast or what Cast it is .. 🙂 Maybe every smart TV has this feature. I made you a video how it works. You don't need a dongle or something like this. Just have a phone and a TV on the same network and it works 🙂
In the video you see the XZ Premium .. I can take another phone or tablet and it will work the same, but only the Xperia 5 II nothing 😞

As you said before that the Xperia 5 ll was able to see Philips TV only, did you try to connect it and cast to it?

I wonder how works the connection which I sent you on the video. If I connect in this way, the TV will mark this connection as: connected to the controller.. The problem will probably be that the Xperia 5 II lacks something that supports this type of connection.
Yes, it works with Philips TV. This TV is with Android and probably uses another way to connect/communicate, probably Chromecast...?
Tonight I'll test it at friends on LG TV which is also non-android smart TV (webOS) and let you know if it works.

So tested, and it doesn't work either. A friend has two non-android TVs and one with Android. His OnePlus phone sees all TVs, and the cast works. My Xperia 5 II sees only Android TV 😞 So definitely in Xperia or Android 11 is missing or not working something that allows you to connect to non-android Smart TVs. 😞

no solution to the problem? you are SONY !!! and not just any manufacturer that has only recently been on the market .. I'm really a little disappointed with the 5 ii .. S10 was okay, P30 Pro could mirror without problems .. even a good desktop mode wireless .. I had good memories of the Z3 Compact .. a shame.

Hi guys, the model mention on the thread doesn't support casting. An alternative would be moving pics and videos to a USB 🤷🏻♀️

Hi,
really doesn't support it? Strange.. when I use it for several years :-)) Please read whole post.. and watch my video. It supports it and on the video you can see how nice it works with Xperia XZ premium;).. It also works with other phones... There is no problem with TV, problem is on Xperia 5 II..
