Since the latest update the above TV keeps asking you to do a panel refresh even if it was only done a week ago. I thought it only happens after 2000 hours?
Mine had only done 1500 hours but it asked to do it so I did. Then a week later it asked again. This is happening to a lot of people on the forums and not just me. In the Sony instructions there’s a warning that says the refresh must not be run more than once a year because it can damage the tv.
This is a very serious concern and something has made this happen in the latest update. Please look into it.
Thanks
Hi Tigermad1,
We will check this and update this thread when we have more information for you.
Perhaps some of our members will have some tips to share until then.
Best wishes,
Ed
Hi Ed. Thanks for the reply. Not sure the other members can help because it appears to be something the update has done and doesn’t look like it can be stopped or helped with any settings.
This happened on my AF9 oled as well. Mine came up with the message saying it wanted to do a panel refresh on Monday 2nd March which I let it do and that completed successfully as there was a message confirming that when I switched it on the next day. 3 days later and probably no more than 20hrs of use it came up with the message again. This time I just left it there with 'refresh later' highlighted and after 5 or 10 mins it switched itself off and doesn't appear to have done another refresh and I haven't had the message about doing one since but it's interesting that it did one and then 3 days later came up with the message saying it needed to do another, doesn't seem right at all
Hi people are getting seriously concerned now that this is effecting the life of the television. Is it possible for an update please? Thanks
Hi
I also had the notice to do a panel refresh last week and the set as only done approx 700hrs since new.
Went ahead and did the refresh overnight and got the message in the morning it had completed.
Last night got another screen needs a refresh update only 5 days after the first one surely this can not be right and if this is dangerous for the panel Sony must address this urgently.
Hi Tigermad1 ,
Have you tried doing a factory reset?
Cheers,
The_Black_Rose
Yes. I have reset it. Some people won’t be able to reset though because they have paid to have their televisions calibrated professionally. I have had the message twice so far in a few weeks.
Hi there,
I'd recommend contacting Sony and reporting the issue for each TV that presents this problem. This way you'll have it documented and Sony will be able to collect any info they need to explain what's going on.

Had the message again last night, third time in 2 weeks....
