Favourites disappear after standby?

I have added two collections of favourites. "Favourites 1" a collection of my wife's list of favourite channels is working fine, no issues (thankfully!!).

The other collection of Favourites is simply the HD channels , currently 6 of them, that I can receive.

Each time the television comes out of standby this HD list is lost/deleted/removed...no longer present . I have to re-add all 6 channels. When I navigate to the favourites menu I see that "favourites 2" HD is still present but the channels are no longer assigned, so I have to add them again - this only takes a few seconds but I'm finding it increasingly annoying that I have to do this each day !.....

If I am doing something wrong ...please someone tell me what???!!!

The model is Sony kd43xg8196bu , it is updated to the latest version of Android (as of 26/08/2020).

Can you try removing the aerial or satellite cable you have connected, tune the channels without it then connect it back, tune again and see if this solves it?

This is basically like unplugging the TV, but specifically for the built-in tuner.

Hi,

Can you please reboot your TV by holding down the green power button on the remote?

Hopefully this will solve the issue with the favorite list.

Cheers

Peter

Thanks Peter, already tried full power down and restart.... No difference. Its bizzare. I work in IT support so am well used to trouble shooting. One of the first things I did was apply rule one : SIOSIBOA.

Switch it off switch it back on again!

@Cushtycom

In the IT Support department I am in, we tell people that ‘switch off switch on’ is just SOSO.

Mainly, it is true, to get them to recover stuck PCs via Power/Restart In Windows, rather than just the On/Off button, which can be a bit brutal.

This is something less critical on TVs; but it is certainly the case that the restart you get by holding down the green button on the remote for just over 5 seconds is a controlled shutdown and restart, and thus superior to a power cycle.

If you haven’t tried it, it may be well worth doing.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Yep, I've tried completely powering down, unplugging, restarting. The TV has the latest Android updates... But will simply not store ANY new favourites - they are erased once it goes into standby. I have tried everything including starting from scratch will a full reset. Very disappointing, but not the end of the world I guess!

Does the same happen after editing with the Sony Channel editor? If you haven't tried it already, it's available for Windows and Mac.

Thanks very much for the info, I got excited there.... For a short while. I've downloaded and installed the Windows application. However the detailed instructions for exporting the current channels are not applicable to my Sony (android) TV model - the menu navigation options are simply not the same I've looked through all menus only to find there is no way to export channel info to USB.... A real shame!

You Sir get top marks !  many thanks for taking the time to reply.

My favourites issue is now fixed.

Just to confirm , the fix in the end was :

1. Disconnect aerial

2. Complete a full channel scan - obviously this finds 0 channels

3. Reconnect aerial , re-scan

4. Create channel favourites as required , then to test , put the television in to standby (or off completely)

5. Turn television back on ....and recently created favourites are intact!! #

Many thanks once again...
