Hi all,
I have a kd-55x9305c that is on firmware pkg5.457.0193eub android 7, but for the last couple of years I've had the "Android 8.0 Oreo Introduction" tile on the menu of the TV. When I click, it shows the Sony info page for Android 8.0 (here). I have automatic updates on, have tried checking for updates, but it never updates. I thought maybe pihole was blocking it, but doesn't seem to be.
I did buy the TV while in the UK but now live in the US, I'd guess this isn't stopping it from updating?
Can anyone confirm whether this model definitely should get Android 8.0, and if so is there a manual way of updating as I only see a firmware download on the Support page.
Thanks

Hi @ajgraham
There has been many complaints on this community since 2020, that the Android 8 update was rolled out to the USA market (XBR), but was never been released to the European market (KD). It is exremely unlikely now, my guess is the European models will never be updated to Android 8.
Looking on the website, there doesn't appear to be a XBR equivalent to the 55X9305C, the closest being 65X930C. I wouldn't recommend updating your TV with the USA software. IT WILL PROBABLY BRICK YOUR TV.

Thanks very much for the info. Crazy situation but sounds about right with modern Sony.
