hi there,
My iPlayer stopped starting about 10 days ago. Software says it's up to date.
Tried a hard restart and also unplugged the power for 10 mins but with no positive effect.
The odd part is that I can start iPlayer from YouView but that is unwieldy to say the least.
A seach of this board shows nothing reported recently.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Adrian
Solved! Go to Solution.
it seems that there's a new version that's been released and my TV's iPlayer is working natively from the TV, rather than having to go through YouView.
Try the below until Sony/Youview sort it.

Figured out a work around for this problem.
This is to uninstall latest update for the live tv/youview app.
It will update itself everyday so you will have to keep doing it. Steps below.
1. Go to apps page via the top menu and down to ‘live tv & catch up’
2.Hold down on the middle remote button to bring up the menu for that app.
3. Select ‘Info’
4. Select ‘Uninstall Updates’ and OK.
5. IPlayer will now open.
thank you, I was unaware of the long-press feature and yes it is a work around and did _temporarily_ resolve the issue.
I still find it odd that iPlayer works via YouView but not the native app.
I really hope that this is not Sony's tactic to push users to YouView by crippling the TV - it's only 2 years old!!
My second TV is older and _is_ no longer supported by Sony. Functionally it's fine but the features no longer work. eg any sort of smart app all the way down to even basic things like the TV guide no longer works.
